1. Register as a volunteer
2. Complete a background check
3. Complete three required online trainings
4. Get out on the field!

1. Register and fill out a volunteer form at www.newportayso.com (required each season).
2. After registering, volunteers must submit to a background check to check for criminal history (required each season).  This screening helps to protect our youth and fellow volunteers.  Look for an email from Sterling Volunteers and complete.
3. Complete the following three online modules by logging into Sports Connect using the same user ID/password from step #1.  Courses can be located through the AYSOU button.
   1. AYSO's Safe Haven
   2. CDC:  Concussion Course
   3. AYSO's Summary of the Laws of the Game

To become an AYSO coach:
In addition to completing the three core modules listed above, you must be certified at the age level you are coaching. 

Coach training requirements:

• 6U Coach:  online 6U Coach Training course

• 8U Coach:  online 8U Coach Training course

• 10U Coach:  online 10U Coach Training module + in-person 10U field companion class (2-3 hours); OR comprehensive 8 hour in-person class 

• 12U coach:  online 12U Coaching Training Pre-Course + in-person 12U course

• 14U coach:  online Intermediate Coach Pre-Course + in-person Intermediate Coach class

• 16U+ coach:  online Advanced Coach module + in-person Advanced Coach class

Note, you have to register as a volunteer before you are able to log in and see the AYSOU option within the Volunteer Tab.

To register for in-person coach training:

• Login to https://aysou.org (use the same ID/password as www.newportayso.com)

• Click 'In-Person Courses’ on the red bar

• Click on 'Instructor Led Courses'

• Find and register for your class
