Each volunteer must take the following steps to become a certified referee. (New AND Returning):
1) Register as a referee volunteer at: https://ayso.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=866276
Each NEW (but NOT Returning) volunteer must ALSO take the following steps:
2) Begin online training at: http://aysou.org
(a) Login using your Blue Sombrero user name and password
(b) Click the "Online Courses" tab on the left side of top bar
(c) There are four mandatory courses to complete, totaling about 20-45 minutes each.
(i) AYSO's Safe Haven
(ii) CDC: Concussion Course
(iii) Regional Referee Training
(iv) AYSO's Summary of the Laws of the Game
(v) Sudden Cardiac Arrest
IMPORTANT: Please do NOT proceed to Step 3 if you have not completed the online portions in Step 2.
3) There is an in-person companion course that is done separately AFTER you’ve done all of Step #2’s courses.
(a) Click on the "In-Person Courses" tab on the top bar.
(b) Search "Regional Referee Online Companion Course" (shorter) OR "Regional Referee Course" by clicking the "Sessions" button.
(c) Select a class that works for you and click "Register". Attend the class!
4) After completing Steps 1-3, email our Regional Referee Administrator [email protected] (RRA) directly so he may:
(a) Gather any other pertinent data.
(b) Order you referee equipment.
(c) Create a Matchtrak account for you, so you can reserve games online.
