B12U All Stars Wins Section 11 Championships
The Section 11 All Stars Tournament saw three teams from Region 97 competing against teams throughout Southern California. One team emerged victorious and will advance.
After winning the 2020 Area Q All Stars League, G10U Yankauskas, B12U Juge and B14U Wilson battled Section 11 teams from Long Beach and Orange County this past weekend in La Mirada. The B12U and B14U teams quickly ran into trouble by losing their opening matches. The G10U team, won their first match against Laguna Hills, but lost and tied their remaining games.
The B12U team recovered from losing their opening match against Alpine (2-3), by beating Paradise Hills (1-3), and Pico Rivera (7-1). In the Sunday afternoon final against Region 785, North Park - San Diego, the teams were scoreless for three quarters. In quick succession, the boys from Newport banged in two unanswered goals, winning the tournament.
This isn’t the first time coach Juge has advanced to the Western States Championships, in 2018, his B12U core team took second place.
