Red Hot Chili Peppers win B12U Area Q Championship.
On a chilly Tuesday night at Jack Hammet Sports Complex, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, coached by Richard Juge, played the Blue Bombers, coached by Doug Purcell for the Boys 12U finals.
The Blue Bombers played a strong defense, until a through-ball by Ethan was converted into a goal in the 7th minute. For the next 20 minutes, neither team was able mount a successful attack. But a foul against Kona in the Purcell's penalty area resulted in a penalty kick for the Chili Peppers. The crowd was apprehensive as Nico ran up to the ball and delivered a fast rolling ball just outside the goal.
The second half opened up with a Nico receiving a cross from Peter and a shot directly into the Blue Bomber's net. The score now tied, both teams scrambled to mount an attack but neither team was able to shoot on-goal and regular time expired.
In the first overtime period, a volley from Reagan in the third minute soared into the upper left corner of the net and the Chili Peppers took the lead. In the second overtime, the Chili Peppers scored twice again to end the game 4-1.
The Blue Bombers ended the season with a record of 8 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie, 31 goals for, 22 goals against.
The Chili Peppers and Coach Juge continue with a record of 11 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie, 48 goals for, 12 goals against. They advance to play in the Section 11 tournament which will be held in San Diego, February 9-10th 2019.
